Technician/Clerk, Medical Device Reprocessing – Langley

Job SummaryWe are looking for a temporary, full‑time Technician/Clerk in Medical Device Reprocessing to join our team in Langley, BC.
Detailed OverviewProvides clerical support, including timekeeping duties, record‑keeping, correspondence, reporting, and maintaining computerized inventory of sterile supply instrumentation. Performs receptionist duties, filing, photocopying, faxing, and distributes mail. Performs medical device reprocessing technician duties as assigned.
Responsibilities- Assist with recording workload statistics on supplies and equipment dispatched from the department.
- Complete maintenance requisitions, maintain records, and type correspondence and reports.
- Assist the Supervisor with time‑keeping duties by entering information from work schedules into Meditech and forwarding to Payroll.
- Participate in the maintenance of procedure manuals by typing, cutting and pasting, photocopying, and filing new and revised procedures.
- Create and maintain computerized inventory of sterile supply instrumentation and track status of loaner instrumentation.
- Maintain stationery and supply levels by monitoring stock, preparing order requisitions, and storing supplies as required.
- Answer the telephone, take messages, answer routine enquiries, and distribute mail.
- Perform medical device reprocessing technician duties, including cleaning, decontaminating, checking, testing, assembling, sterilizing, and distributing supplies, instruments, and equipment related to the Operating Room and other hospital areas.
- Operate departmental equipment such as automated washers, cart washers, pasteurizer, ultrasonic washer, clean dryer, heat sealer, and sterilizers.
- Participate in routine maintenance of department equipment by cleaning, checking, and testing sterilizers, mechanical washers, and other MDR equipment; clean work and storage areas as assigned.
- Picks supplies and instruments for surgical cases.
- Participate in the department’s Quality Assurance Program.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Grade 12, successful completion of a recognized Sterile Supply Processing program, plus one year of recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Skills and Abilities- Knowledge of surgical and medical terminology.
- Mathematical aptitude.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal effectively with others.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Ability to type 40 words per minute.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
