Position: Instrumentation & Controls Engineer-in-Training (EIT) / Specialist
AWC Water Solutions Ltd. specializes in providing integrated water treatment plants and wastewater treatment plants. Along with this specialization, AWC also has experience in many other industrial packaged solutions.

Clients are offered advanced in-house consulting, engineering & design; with 3D modeling, piloting, fabrication (including machining and control panel fabrication/ assembly), system testing and a full range of field services. This allows AWC to provide turn-key solutions for the self fabricated packages.

AWC are seeking a qualified Instrumentation and Control (I&C) EIT/Specialist experienced in the engineering/ fabrication/ construction focuses on instrumentation selection and process control design.

Duties and Responsibilities

Working under the supervision of a Senior I&C Engineer:
Assist in the development of process control automation detailed on Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) per ISA Standards

Assist with instrumentation sizing calculations for the selection of control valves, relief valves, regulators, flow devices, etc.

Aid in the development of Control Narratives including control loop writeups with sketches, preliminary PID control settings, alarm reconciliation, Human Machine Interface (HMI) graphical requirements and interfaces with 3rd party equipment

Work as part of the team developing the Cause & Effect (Shutdown Keys) Diagrams, Range, Alarm, Trips and Settings (RATS) List

Develop datasheets and Material

Requisition s for all types of instrumentation including analysers

Assists in the development of control system architecture for water/wastewater treatment plants, as well as a variety of other turnkey industrial process packages.

Review wiring design of control panels, MCC equipment interfaces and systems design

Assist in the development of Commissioning Plans and Performance Test Plans

Travel to project sites may be required, up to 10% of the time, for brownfield scope development, scope alignments, trouble shooting, commissioning and support.

Participates in the factory acceptance tests.

Although not responsible for PLC and SCADA/RTU programming, must be able to support the troubleshooting of problems with automation technicians

Review of I&C documentation and supports the development of change orders, etc.

Assist the project managers with client needs by taking part in client meetings or calls, as needed.

Aid in the evaluation and recommendation for cost-effective design options without compromising quality and performance.

Collaborate with internal departments (fabrication, sales, etc.) and external stakeholders (vendors, owners, owners’ engineers, etc.) to achieve desired project outcomes.

Stay updated with industry best practices and technologies through training and self-improvement initiatives.

Help in the continual improvement of AWC’s Quality Management System’s practices, procedures, templates, and checklists by participating in design reviews, feedback sessions, and process improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

Minimum 0-4 years of relevant experience in I&C engineering and design

Engineering degree or equivalent

Working toward P.Eng. registration in B.C. or Alberta.

Strong work ethic, self-motivation.

Excellent communication (verbal & written) and interpersonal skills.

Strong planning and organizational skills, including attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and within a team.

Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills

Strong computer skills, including MS Office Suite, exposure to Autodesk products is an asset.

Experience with water treatment is an asset.

Ability to work in Canada.
