Job Overview
The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Accounts Payable/Receivable Clerk to join our team of professionals in the Finance Division, Revenue and Tax Collections Department. Reporting to the Municipal Collector, in this unionized position you will perform a variety of accounting tasks including accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions, account reconciliations and journal entries. The Accounts Payable/Receivable Clerk prepares and maintains files, records and reports and this position is well suited to applicants who are detail-oriented, demonstrate critical thinking skills and have experience in accounts payable and receivable financial systems.
Responsibilities
Process accounts payable and receivable transactions and review transactions for accuracyProcess a variety of payments and adjustments including property taxes, utilities and dog licensesReview submitted forms for accuracy and compliance with applicable policies and regulationsPost receipts/disbursements to accounts and ledgers and prepare account reconciliations and journal entriesPrepare and maintain a variety of files, records, reports and documents related to municipal collectionAnswer enquiries, resolve issues and provide information and assistancePerform related work as requiredQualifications
Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by completion of bookkeeping and accounting courses plus sound related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.Sound knowledge of the methods, practices and procedures used in double entry bookkeeping and accounts payable/receivableSound knowledge of the applicable regulations, policies, rules and systems governing municipal collectionsSound knowledge of computer-based information systems and applicationsAbility to process accounts payable/receivable transactions, prepare journal entries and reconcile accountsAbility to prepare a variety of files, records and reports and perform calculations with speed and accuracyAbility to maintain effective communication with internal/external contacts and the public and provide information and assistance as requiredSkill in operation of office equipment and software used in municipal collectionsKnowledge of the Community Charter, Local Government Act and related legislation is considered an assetApply Now
