Physical Therapist – Wyoming Life Resource Center (WLRC), Lander, WY
This position provides physical therapy services to residents of the Wyoming Life Resource Center (WLRC) in Lander, including individuals with intellectual disabilities, acquired brain injury, and mental health challenges. WLRC serves residents in an Intermediate Care Facility and a newly constructed Skilled Nursing Facility – the first of its kind in the nation. WLRC offers a unique environment with a rich history and a bright future.
Responsibilities- Act as an active member of an interdisciplinary team for a caseload of residents.
- Perform therapeutic evaluations, including assessment of assistive and adaptive devices, environmental barriers, ergonomics, body mechanics, gait, locomotion and balance, motor function, muscle control, etc.
- Provide assessments, document intervention plans, and track progress.
- Evaluate each individual on the caseload on an ongoing basis and develop and implement therapeutic treatment programs based on evaluation findings.
- Provide therapeutic activities that improve daily living skills, vocational skills, leisure skills, and enhance functional performance.
- Evaluate individual needs for therapeutic adaptive equipment and assist in design and purchase; train and monitor its use.
- Monitor equipment for repair, modification, replacement or discontinuation.
- Train, educate, and monitor staff in therapeutic skills and activities that support the established intervention plan.
- Consult with medical providers, family members, case managers, and direct care staff regarding resident needs.
- Assist in design and implementation of specific therapeutic programs such as aquatic therapy.
- Train staff in safe handling and positioning of clients.
- In conjunction with medical providers, designate individuals to be seen at specialty orthotic clinics, consult with orthotics, monitor orthotic use, recommend and obtain modified footwear, and assist with repairs as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree (typically in Physical Therapy)
Experience0–3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Physical Therapy)
Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsLicensure or eligibility for licensure in the State of Wyoming as a Physical Therapist.
