Fixed until 31st March 2026 – Opportunity for extension annually
Essential Requirements- Experience working with disadvantaged or excluded groups, including homelessness, substance misuse, mental health, or offending behaviours
- Knowledge of housing, welfare, and homelessness systems
- Ability to assess support needs, manage risk, and make appropriate referrals
- Confident in partnership working with housing providers, probation services, and other agencies
- Strong IT skills, including case management systems, MS Office, and digital communication platforms
- Excellent interpersonal, team working, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and follow health and safety procedures
- Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the local area
- Enhanced DBS or willingness to undergo check
- Experience in people-focused support roles
- Ability to deliver group work to prepare clients for independent living
As a Floating Support Worker, you will support individuals with a recent history of homelessness into sustainable accommodation. The role focuses on enabling clients to maintain tenancies while addressing their wider support needs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing one-to-one support via home visits, phone, and digital contact
- Assessing needs and risks and developing personalised support plans
- Liaising with landlords, housing providers, local authorities, and partner agencies to secure suitable move‑on options
- Advocating for clients and supporting them to build life skills for independent living
- Recording interventions, progress, and outcomes accurately and promptly
- Contributing to group work and community-based activities to support engagement
- Maintaining strong professional networks to enhance housing options and continued support post‑service exit
