Position: Assistant Manager (St Nics Arcade)

About the Role

This role matters. Based in the heart of St Nic's Arcade in Lancaster, this shop is the newest addition to our retail family – opening its doors in April 2025. It offers a bright, modern, boutique style sales floor on the ground floor and a stockroom on the first floor.

Could you be our new Assistant Shop Manager and join an experienced, supportive retail team?

This role suits someone with strong merchandising and customer service skills, knowledge of pre‑loved goods, a passion for excellent customer service, and the ability to thrive in a busy, fast‑paced retail environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee day‑to‑day shop operations and ensure high standards of customer care.
  • Manage visual merchandising and stock levels, organising the stockroom to support sales.
  • Drive sales, monitor performance indicators and report on results.
  • Provide training and support to the shop team, fostering a collaborative culture.
  • Support the charity’s mission by ensuring the shop contributes to the Hospice’s income.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Experience in a retail shop role, preferably in a charity or pre‑loved goods environment.
  • Strong customer‑service orientation and merchandising knowledge.
  • Physical ability to lift, push or pull donated items.
  • Availability to work on weekends and public holidays (the shop is closed 24–26 Dec, NYE, NYD).
  • Subject to an enhanced DBS check – the cost (£54.30) will be deducted from the first salary payment.
