The Hospital Medicine Department at MUSC Health – Catawba is seeking skilled Acute Care trained Advanced Practice Providers interested in providing adult in-patient care in our facility.

Schedule:

7 on 7 off. Patient population focus:
Inpatient. Patient age range: 18 – death.

• Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant.
• Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and currently licensed as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.
• Completion of an accredited Family Nurse Practitioner Program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Family Nurse Practitioner with prior hospital medicine and/or ICU experience; considered for this role.

At least 6 months of hospital medicine experience preferred.

1 year as a Physician Assistant or FNP/AGACNP in Hospital Medicine preferred but not required. ICU experience is a plus but not required.

Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant will be assigned a Primary Supervising/Collaborating Physician at MUSC and will report directly to that physician.

• Currently licensed (or eligible) in South Carolina as a Physician Assistant by the South Carolina Board of Medical Examiners or as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner with the SC Board of Nursing.
• Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS); if not current, provider must enroll and obtain the certificate by the start date.
• DHEC and DEA license.

• Takes comprehensive history and performs physical examinations.
• Works with Nocturnist, mainly on admissions and cross‑coverage.
• Evaluates and treats based on history, physical examination, radiological, laboratory, and other diagnostic test results pursuant to the practice agreement or scope of practice guideline.
• Initiates referrals to other health care providers and/or consults with the attending physician or collaborating physician.
• Documents and bills for direct care provided.
• Utilizes current research and evidence‑based decision‑making in all clinical practice.
• Performs and participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research.
• Participates in and supports accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities of the organization.
• Demonstrates responsibility for professional practice through active participation in professional organizations and continuing education.
• Potential to precept students at MUSC enrolled as an advanced practice provider student and facilitates the learning of other new team members.
• Maintains all required licenses, certifications, CNEs/CMEs, etc. as required by applicable policies and state law.
