Maintenance Technician

- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems using schematics, technical drawings, and testing equipment.
- Repair equipment, fixtures, systems, conveyors, and other plant equipment.
- Modify, lubricate, diagnose, and operate equipment in accordance with Niagara’s processes.
- Maintain industrial control systems.
- Work independently and with other team members to complete repairs safely and timely.
- May fill in for production operator as needed.
- Create and report repairs throughout shift, completing required work order paperwork and documenting parts and material usage.
- Understand and follow plant safety rules, including safe lifting practices and safe machine operation.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance to ensure equipment and facility uptime.
- Document and report any safety or mechanical issues per Niagara’s procedures.
- Understand that duties and responsibilities may change over time.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 4 years of experience in a field or similar maintenance environment.
- 4 years of experience in a maintenance position.
- 4 years of experience managing people/projects.
- Experience may include a combination of work experience and education.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and resolve issues across departments.
- Basic experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Effective communication of issues and solutions to cross‑functional team members.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics: electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic.
- Skilled in the use of shop equipment such as hydraulic and mechanical presses, bench grinder, drill press, mill, lathe, and assorted power tools.
- Proficient with precision measuring equipment (calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges, depth gauges).
- Willingness to be a technical leader and trainer within a specific area of plant or machine center.
- Will need own toolbox and basic tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 6 years of experience in a field or similar manufacturing environment.
- 6 years of experience in a maintenance position.
- 6 years of experience managing people/projects.
- Experience may include a combination of work experience and education.
- Experience in high‑speed manufacturing, bottling, beverage, packaging, or plastics industries.
- Experience with technologies such as Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), servo drives, servo motors, rotary equipment, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and plastics processing.
- Skilled in fabrication capabilities such as cutting and welding (MIG, TIG, or stick).
- Skilled working with electrical systems including 480
VAC & 24
VDC power. - Ability to read and interpret schematics for process and instrumentation diagrams.
- Experience repairing variable frequency drives, servo motors and controllers, communication systems (ASI‑Bus, CAN‑Bus, Profi‑Bus, Ethernet), PLC I/O cards, and safety modules.
