CORRECTIONAL OFFICER

Under general supervision, performs a variety of duties which ensure the discipline, safety & security of inmates sentenced to the confinement of the County Detention Center.

Responsibilities include:

  • Receiving & processing prisoners coming into the facility by completing appropriate forms & paperwork.
  • Recording identifying information.
  • Searching prisoners.
  • Logging & storing personal items.
  • Taking fingerprints & photographs of prisoners.
  • Performing other related duties.

    • Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have high school diploma or GED equivalent certificate.
  • Must be 18 yrs. of age.
  • Must be able to successfully complete the SC Criminal Justice Academy within the first year of employment & pass the physical requirements set forth by the SCCJA.
  • Must pass an extensive background check & have a valid driver’s license.
