Retail Associate/ Customer Service, Customer Service Rep

This position is responsible for interacting with customers and team members, supporting selling initiatives, and performing assigned tasks while providing excellent customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)As a Team Member, you must be available, flexible, adaptable, and service-oriented. You should be able to fulfill the following requirements:
- Thank the Customer
- Engage with the customer and/or pet
- Advise on products or services
- Make the experience Memorable
- Operate cash register/computer following cash handling procedures
- Recover merchandise
- Participate in freight process
- Complete Plan-o-gram procedures
- Assemble merchandise
- Perform janitorial duties
- Execute price changes/markdowns
- Assist customers with loading purchases
- Ensure the safety and well-being of live animals, including sanitizing tanks and caring for animals
- Complete all related documentation
Experience:
No experience required; retail experience or pet/live animal knowledge is preferred.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required. Ability to read, write, and count accurately is essential.
- Pet/Live Animal, pet food, pet product knowledge
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Basic computer skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ethical issue resolution with minimal conflict
- Generally indoor environment with moderate noise
- Hard surface floors (concrete, asphalt), adequate lighting and temperature
- Shifts typically no less than 4 hours, may exceed 8 hours
- Promote a safe and productive environment, adhering to safety guidelines
- Non-sedentary position requiring movement throughout the store and outdoor areas
- Operate equipment safely and efficiently
- Occasionally lift or reach merchandise overhead
- Stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, climb ladders frequently
- Move throughout the store for entire shifts
- Access all store areas safely
- Operate store equipment including computer and cash register
- Read, write, and count accurately for documentation
- Communicate effectively with team members and customers
- Process merchandise through POS system
- Move merchandise up to 50 pounds
- Complete all required training and certification
