Overview

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is seeking a highly skilled and confident Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) to join our established Level II neonatal practice at MUSC Health Lancaster Medical Center. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a collaborative, forward-thinking team that leverages cutting-edge Telehealth technology to deliver exceptional care in partnership with MUSC Physicians in Charleston, SC.

Responsibilities
  • Attend high-risk deliveries and provide immediate, expert care to newborns.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans for each infant.
  • Collaborate in real-time with MUSC’s pediatricians and soon with neonatology specialists via Telehealth to ensure continuity and excellence in care.
  • Make autonomous, informed decisions in a fast-paced environment, and effectively communicate critical information to off-site physicians.

As a vital member of the neonatal team, you will work in a collaborative, tech-enabled setting and provide leadership in neonatal care.

About This Position
  • Seeking candidates with at least 2 years of experience as an NNP.
  • Inpatient Coverage - Level II Nursery (ADC 1-2).
  • Shifts are 8am – 5pm in-house Monday-Friday.
  • Call Room provided for providers.
  • Pediatric Consults to ER as requested.
  • Must be comfortable with patients 32 weeks and above, resuscitation, CPAP, peripheral IVs, ART sticks, managing ventilators, administering pulmonary surfactants, umbilical lines, catheters, and other neonatal procedures.
  • Circumcision is required; training with Plastibell can be provided if needed.
  • Strong leadership preferred.

Required Training and Education
  • Physician Assistant (PA):
    Completion of an accredited PA program and current licensure or eligibility as a PA.
  • NP/NNP:
    Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and current licensure or eligibility as an NNP.
Minimum Experience
  • Desire to have at least 2 years of experience as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with NICU experience.
Degree of Supervision

Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) or Physician Assistant (PA) will be assigned a Primary Supervising/Collaborating Physician employed by MUSC.

Licensure, Certifications, Registrations
  • Currently licensed (or eligible) in South Carolina as an NNP with the SC Board of Nursing or as a Physician Assistant with the SC Board of Medical Examiners.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS). If BLS is not current, must enroll and obtain certificate by start date.
  • Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP). If NRP is not current, must enroll and obtain certificate by start date.
  • DHEC and DEA license applications must be submitted prior to first day.
