Position Overview:
A school district in Lancaster, SC
, is seeking a dedicated and skilled Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) to support the speech and language therapy team in delivering services to students. This is a full-time position that will involve working under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide direct therapy services, assist in assessments, and support students with speech and language disorders.
As an SLPA, you will work closely with students across a variety of age groups to help them develop communication skills, improve speech articulation, fluency, language processing, and social communication. Key Responsibilities:
- Therapy Support
:
Assist the licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) in implementing therapy plans and delivering speech and language therapy services to students. - Student Evaluation Assistance
:
Support the SLP in conducting speech and language assessments, including screening, observations, and data collection. - Individual and Group Therapy
:
Provide individual and group therapy sessions to students as directed by the supervising SLP, focusing on speech articulation, language development, fluency, and social communication skills. - Documentation & Reporting
:
Maintain accurate documentation of therapy sessions, student progress, and assist with reporting as required. - Collaboration
:
Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and parents to integrate speech and language goals into the classroom setting. - Materials & Equipment
:
Assist in preparing and maintaining therapy materials, devices, and assistive technologies. - Progress Monitoring
:
Track student progress and assist the SLP in modifying therapy plans as needed to meet students' evolving needs.
Qualifications:
- Education
:
Associate's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders (or equivalent). - Certification
:
Current licensure or certification as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) in South Carolina (or eligibility for certification). - Experience
:
Previous experience as an SLPA in a school or clinical setting preferred. Familiarity with speech and language therapy techniques and procedures is a plus. - Skills
:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents. - Knowledge
:
Understanding of speech and language development, communication disorders, and special education laws. - CPR and First Aid
:
