Overview
The role of the Registered Nurse (RN) Specialty Team Lead is integral to the delivery of high-quality patient care and operational efficiency within the nursing unit.
This position merges advanced clinical knowledge with leadership acumen to achieve both clinical standards and organizational objectives.
The RN Team Lead is responsible for fostering collaboration among healthcare professionals, optimizing resource management, and serving as a clinical mentor to nursing staff, all while promoting a culture of safety, respect, and continuous quality improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and lead nursing personnel to maintain exceptional standards of patient care, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Oversee daily nursing operations, including patient assignments and staff scheduling, to ensure seamless workflow.
- Serve as a clinical resource and mentor, assisting staff in the development and implementation of individualized care plans tailored to complex patient needs.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and develop tailored staff development plans to enhance clinical competencies.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and quality standards, conducting regular audits to maintain compliance within the nursing unit.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to address complex patient needs and enhance the overall care delivery process.
- Participate actively in the recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes for nursing personnel to build a skilled workforce.
- Design and implement patient care initiatives and programs aimed at improving service delivery and patient satisfaction.
- Facilitate communication among staff, patients, and families to enhance transparency and promote positive patient experiences.
- Utilize data analysis to monitor patient outcomes and drive quality improvement initiatives within the unit.
- Efficiently manage resource allocation to ensure optimal staffing and equipment availability to meet patient care demands.
- Address and rectify clinical and operational challenges promptly, escalating issues as necessary for timely resolution.
- Lead unit meetings that promote a cohesive team-oriented environment and encourage open lines of communication.
- Contribute to budget planning and management to enhance financial efficiency within the nursing department.
- Advocate for continuing education and professional development opportunities for nursing staff, fostering a culture of lifelong learning.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) from an accredited institution; a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing or Healthcare Management is preferred.
- Certification in leadership or specialized nursing practice (e.g., Nurse Executive, Clinical Nurse Leader) is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical nursing experience in an acute care environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
- Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Hampshire, as verified by Nursys.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
