Position: Lead Quality Assurance (QA) Inspector

Overview

Lead Quality Assurance (QA) Inspector – Edwards

The Lead Quality Assurance (QA) Inspector monitors and evaluates all maintenance actions to ensure safe and reliable aircraft are provided in accordance with current technical manuals, directives, and instructions applicable to the maintenance program.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement quality assurance and ground safety programs to ensure compliance with contract specifications.
  • Inspect and verify proper completion and documentation of safety and flight discrepancies.
  • Brief and debrief pilots and crew members assigned to functional check flights.
  • Evaluate personnel, including verification of skills, training and experience.
  • Perform audits and inspections of work centers and ongoing maintenance actions, procedures, equipment and facilities.
  • Monitor timeliness and applicability of aircraft maintenance technical data and technical library.
  • Review maintenance source documents, aircraft inspection records, notes recurring discrepancies or trends and initiate appropriate action.
  • Perform compliance inspections on aircraft in accordance with Air Force Instructions, FAA directive and Original Equipment Manufacturer’s manuals.
  • Perform quality assurance trend analysis to determine Special Interest Items to improve maintenance processes and procedures.
  • Perform special investigations, accident and safety investigations to determine root cause and corrective actions.
  • Assist in preparation of Quality Assurance Monthly Data Requirements List (CDRLs).
  • Provide technical guidance, as required, to other QA Inspectors and Aircraft Mechanics.
  • Plan the daily workflow and ensure accurate documentation of the maintenance and repair of aircraft and aircraft components and assign work for other inspectors.
  • All other position related duties as assigned.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ten (10) or more years of general experience in aircraft maintenance and/or
  • Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification.
  • Must have broad working knowledge of aircraft maintenance, inspection techniques, FAA regulations, and Air Force technical publications.
  • Must have a working knowledge of aircraft safety requirements.
  • Exceptional communication skills, leadership abilities, and personnel management skills.
  • Must be familiar with Maintenance Information Systems (MIS) to retrieve and input data.
  • In-depth knowledge of Quality Assurance procedures.
  • Ability to research, read and interpret drawings.
  • Ability to write with clarity and technical accuracy.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable contractual performance work requirements.
  • Must have current state issued driver’s license.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain U.S. Secret clearance.

    NOTE:

    U.S. citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work site.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands
  • Must possess the ability to carry and lift overhead up to 50 pounds.
  • Duties include walking, climbing, standing, stooping, stretching, and squatting for purposes of moving equipment, boarding and de-boarding the aircraft, performing maintenance using ladders, and performing maintenance atop and below aircraft.
  • Work is primarily performed outside in a high-level noise environment.
  • Performing maintenance in low-light areas, operating support equipment after daylight hours. Work is occasionally performed in inclement weather.
