job objective
under the supervision of the human resources leadership team, the human resources generalist is responsible for the day-to-day administration of hr programs, policies, and procedures. This position will demonstrate strong human resources experience to assist with any and all transactional duties with little to no assistance in any of the following functional areas: recruitment, employee relations, benefits, leave administration, hris, and special projects as assigned.
dutiesand responsibilities
- a. Serves as the initial line of contact for a variety of general hr inquiries.
- b. Maintains overall knowledge of all company hr programs, policies and procedures, to respond promptly and accurately to hr questions and concerns.
- c. Assists in the transactional activities of every hr department function.
- d. Provides first-level support to employees and managers for basic inquiries.
- e. Ensures compliance with osha rules and regulations.
- f. Assists with active and terminated employee files.
- g. Prepares and maintains reports that are necessary to carry out the functions of the human resources department.
- h. Prepares periodic reports for management, as necessary or requested.
- i. Provides assistance with special projects.
- j. Answers telephones, answers questions, routes calls appropriately, and accurately records messages.
- k. Ensures incoming mail is routed appropriately and in a timely manner.
- l. Greets and assists employees and visitors as needed.
- m. Prepares and scans human resources related materials.
- n. Copies and files human resources related materials.
- assists managers and employees with various first-level questions and processes related to various human resource functions.
- other miscellaneous duties as assigned
- strong working knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to human resource functions required.
- broad knowledge of recruiting, employee relations, benefits, unemployment administration and leave programs.
- demonstrated knowledge of administrative support procedures and practices.
- excellent computer skills, including proficiency in microsoft office applications (word, excel power point) with strong working knowledge of hris systems.
- good skills in database management and record keeping.
- effective oral and written communication skills.
- excellent interpersonal skills.
- must be able to establish good working relationships with supervisors and employees. Requires exemplary customer service skills and the ability to identify problems, research alternatives, and resolve them.

- bachelor's degree in human resources, business or related field, is preferred.
- phr/shrm certification is strongly preferred.
- minimum of three years of experience in human resources.
- human resources experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
