Description
Antelope Valley College invites applications for our adjunct (temporary, part-time) faculty applicant pool for the following Career Technical Education discipline, Automotive Adjunct Instructor position.
Representative Duties- Teaches a variety of courses in Automotive Technology, subjects may vary from ASE A1-A8.
- Assignment may include teaching courses during the day, afternoon, evening, online courses and/or off-campus.
- Follows curriculum of record to teach students valuable real world skills, and prepare students to pass ASE exams.
- Instructs lecture and lab classes.
- Demonstrates hands-on live work to students.
- Instructs students in the use of tools, equipment, and industry standard safety practices.
- Evaluates student performance, records grades, and submits final grades.
- Maintains professional and ethical standards.
- Instructs students in the assigned discipline.
- Assignment may include teaching courses during the day, evening, online courses and/or off-campus sites.
Applicant must meet one of the following requirements:
- Most current Minimum Qualifications for Faculty in California Community Colleges:
Any Bachelor's degree AND two years of professional experience OR any Associate degree AND six years of professional experience OR Equivalency. - Antelope Valley College Equivalency:
Equivalency approved 5/4/2023.
College work, military training, or nationally recognized certifications equivalent to a Baccalaureate degree AND two years of related occupational experience in the discipline;
OR
, college work, military training, or nationally recognized certifications equivalent to an Associate degree plus six years of occupational experience related to the discipline,
OR Eight years of experience in the automotive service occupation, two years of which must have included assignment as a supervisor, instructor, trainer or owner of an automotive service shop.
- ASE certifications from A1-A8 and G1.
- Automotive manufacturer training.
- California BAR Smog certification.
- Experience rebuilding manual or automatic transmissions.
- AND a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students (Assembly Bill 1725; Education Code 87360).

- Scanned copy of official transcripts with required degree(s). Foreign transcripts and degrees require official certification of equivalency to U.S. transcripts and degrees by a certified U.S. review service at the time of application and must identify graduate level coursework.
- Two (2) current letters of professional reference signed and dated within the last year.

- Applicants may be subject to passing an examination (written/technical), as appropriate to the requirements of the position.
