Overview
This position is a full‑time, tenure‑track, 10‑month classroom teaching assignment in the Mathematics, Sciences, & Engineering Division. Faculty are expected to teach 15 lecture hour equivalents per semester and maintain five office hours per week. Participation in professional activities, curriculum development, and campus committees is required. The teaching assignment may include courses offered in onsite, online, hybrid, evening, or Saturday formats.

- Teach fifteen lecture hour equivalents per semester in Mathematics, using demonstrations and active‑learning strategies.
- Teach the full mathematics curriculum, including Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, Statistics, and co‑requisite support courses.
- Maintain five office hours per week, with regular posted hours accessible to students.
- Prepare for instruction and assessment activities.
- Participate in faculty/division meetings, yearly program reviews, curricular planning, development, and implementation.
- Collect and analyze data for student learning outcomes, write action plans, and implement assessment of program learning outcomes.
- Contribute to college governance to advance the college’s mission and strategic goals.
- Engage in faculty professional development and continuing education activities related to pedagogy, online teaching, and student support, especially for equity initiatives.
- Maintain attendance, census, and grade records.
- Create an environment conducive to effective learning.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students and colleagues.
- Establish cooperative working relationships with all employees and stakeholders.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
- Travel between district locations as required.
- Perform other instructional‑related duties as assigned.
- Applicant must meet one of the following:
- Master’s in mathematics or applied mathematics.
- Bachelor’s in mathematics or applied mathematics AND a Master’s in statistics, physics, or mathematics education (or equivalent).
- Antelope Valley College equivalency: a Master’s degree in engineering, physics, or computer science with at least 18 semester units of graduate coursework equivalent to Mathematical Analysis, Differential Equations, and Linear Algebra.
- Sensitivity to and understanding of diverse student backgrounds (tit. 5 53024.1).
- Knowledge or experience working with underrepresented students to reduce equity gaps.
- Experience with culturally responsive teaching practices.
- Successful teaching experience at the college or university level in mathematics.
- A strong generalist background with teaching experience in mathematics, sciences, and engineering.
- Experience using a learning management system (LMS).
- Experience in curriculum development, assessment of student learning outcomes, and participation in program review documents.
