Aircraft Fabrication & Assembly (Aeronautical Non-Destructive Inspection) – Full-time Faculty
This position is a full‑time, 10‑month tenure‑track classroom teaching assignment in the Aerospace, Industrial Arts, and Applied Technologies division. The teaching load is 15 lecture‑hour equivalents per semester. Faculty are also responsible for 5 office hours per week and are expected to devote the necessary time to all professional responsibilities. The assignment may include courses delivered onsite, online, and/or hybrid, with evening or weekend classes as appropriate.
Responsibilities- Teach 15 lecture‑hour equivalents per semester in Aeronautical Non‑Destructive Inspection (ANDI) using demonstrations and active learning strategies.
- Maintain five office hours per week with regular posted hours.
- Allocate time for preparation and grading.
- Participate in faculty and division meetings, yearly program review, curricular planning, and development.
- Engage in faculty professional development and continuing education to remain current in the field, pedagogy, and student‑support strategies.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, census, grades, and other required documentation.
- Create an environment conducive to effective learning.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Build cooperative relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender‑identity, sexual‑orientation, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Travel between district locations as needed.
- Perform other instructional‑related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree or higher AND two years of professional experience, OR Associate's degree AND six years of professional experience.
- Relevant college work, military training, or nationally recognized certifications equivalent to the required degree level plus the specified professional experience.
- Eight years of experience in the aircraft fabrication occupation, with at least two years as a supervisor, instructor, trainer, or owner of an aircraft maintenance facility focused on assembly or prototype construction.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community‑college students (Title V, §53024.1).
- Bachelor's of Science degree in a related academic subject.
- Three years full‑time postsecondary teaching experience in career‑technical education, preferably at a community college, or 10 years of recent industry training experience in aviation/aerospace manufacturing/maintenance.
- Level III Non‑Destructive Inspection experience or ASNT Level III certification in the specific methods taught.
- Industry certifications relevant to the assignment (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean Management).
- FAA certification(s) A&P, IA.
- Evidence of successful grant writing or scholarship awards.
- Strong applied aerospace industry knowledge and current certifications, training, and professional relevance.
- Clear communication of complex technical concepts using multiple instructional methods.
- Professionalism, dependability, and collegiality in collaboration with faculty, staff, industry partners, and students.
- Engagement in continuous improvement through governance, curriculum development, and faculty activities.
- Initiative, adaptability, and problem‑solving skills supporting program needs, instructional delivery modes, and workforce expectations.
