Electricity (Electrical Power Distribution) Instructor – Full-time Faculty

This position is a full-time, tenure‑track appointment for a 10‑month classroom teaching assignment in the Aerospace, Industrial Arts, and Applied Technologies Division. The current teaching load is 15 lecture‑hour equivalents per semester. Faculty also provide five office hours per week and are expected to devote ample time to the professional responsibilities of the position. Participation in professional activities, curriculum development, and campus committees is expected.
Courses may be offered onsite, online, hybrid, evening, or Saturday.
- Teach fifteen lecture‑hour equivalents per semester in Electricity (Electrical Power Distribution) using demonstrations and active‑learning strategies.
- Maintain five office hours per week, including posted office hours accessible to students.
- Prepare instructional materials and stay current in the field, pedagogy, and student support strategies.
- Participate in faculty/division meetings, yearly program review, curricular planning and implementation, assessment of program outcomes, and college governance.
- Engage in faculty professional development and continuing education to enhance pedagogical practices and equity initiatives.
- Maintain records of attendance, census, grades, etc.
- Create a learning environment conducive to effective instruction.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Establish cooperative relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to diverse student backgrounds and foster inclusion.
- Travel between district locations as required.
- Perform other instructional‑related duties as assigned.
- Most current Minimum Qualifications for Faculty in California Community Colleges: meet one of the following:
- Any bachelor's degree AND two years of professional experience, OR
- Any associate degree AND six years of professional experience.
- College work equivalent to a baccalaureate degree and two years of related occupational experience in the discipline OR
- College work equivalent to an associate degree plus six years of occupational experience in the discipline.
- Eight years of experience as a journeyman electrician or electrical maintenance technician.
- Part‑time experience prorated; two years must include assignment as an instructor, trainer or supervisor in the electrical field.
- Valid California Contractors License (B or C10), OR four years of journeyman‑level experience or up to two years of educational experience counting toward the requirement.
- Sensitivity to and understanding of diverse backgrounds per Title 5 and § 53024.1.
