Job Description and Duties
MAINTENANCE AIDE (SEASONAL) - GREAT BASIN DISTRICT / MOJAVE SECTOR / ANTELOPE VALLEY POPPY RESERVE STATE NATURAL RESERVE
"Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKs program. Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKs recipient in the comments area on the application. Applicants must submit a verification of their CalWORKs eligibility status, which may include the most recent Notice of Action showing TANF eligibility or a copy of your last aid check stub.
If verification is not submitted with the application, the application will not be processed. (Applicants may obtain verification from the CalWORKs program)."
The reporting location for this position is Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve State Natural Reserve. This position will work under supervision of the Park Maintenance Supervisor.
This is a seasonal position where the maintenance aide performs routine housekeeping and maintenance of facilities and grounds at the Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve, Saddleback Butte State Park, Red Rock Canyon State Park. And the Antelope Valley Indian Museum. Duties include litter and garbage collection and disposal; cleaning and maintaining picnic areas, restrooms, offices, and visitor centers; assisting with basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, vandalism repairs, road and trail maintenance, and fence repairs.
This is a uniformed position; the successful candidate will be required to purchase and wear a State Park Uniform.
This position can work 189 days in a 12 consecutive month period or a maximum of 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months per California Code of Regulation 265.1. This position is designated as not telework eligible.
The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
Possession of a valid driver's license of the appropriate class and a safe driving record as documented by the Department of Motor Vehicles within 60 days prior to appointment. (A safe driving record is one free from convictions in the past two years for repeated moving violations or a single serious violation, such as drunk driving or reckless driving.)

Working Conditions
Outdoor work will be in a variety of climate conditions including strong winds, temperatures ranging from freezing to 110°F, and occasionally rain or hail.
Hiking on trails ranging in elevation from 2600 to 3700 feet.
Walking on uneven ground surfaces.
Occasionally lift objects weighing under 25 pounds.
