Catering Assistant

Key Responsibilities

* Support the team in serving hot and cold meals to pupils and staff

* Maintain high standards of food hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen and serving areas

* Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment

* Clean kitchen surfaces, dining areas, and food preparation spaces

* Follow food safety regulations and school health & safety policies

* Assist with setting up and clearing down the dining area

* Ensure correct portion control and presentation of meals

* Support the catering team during busy lunch service periods

Essential

* Previous catering or kitchen experience

* Ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen environment

* Good teamwork and communication skills

* Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards

* Reliable, punctual, and well organised

Desirable

* Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate

* Experience working in a school or large catering environment

* Enhanced DBS certificate (preferably on the Update Service)

* Knowledge of allergen awareness and dietary requirements
