CNC Operator

Overview

Operates CNC Machining Centers to produce parts to Customer Specifications. Loads and runs CNC programs. Deburrs parts and cleans as time allows. Performs routine maintenance on Machining Centers, such as filling way oil.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC Machining Centers to produce parts to customer specifications.
• Load and run CNC programs.
• Deburr parts and clean as necessary.
• Perform routine maintenance on CNC Machining Centers (e.g., fill way oil).
• Use band saws and simple tools such as hex wrenches, screwdrivers, and soft hammers.
• Change dull tooling and adjust machine offsets.
• Check part dimensions using micrometers, gage pins, vernier calipers, drop indicators, comparators, thread gauges, and other precision tools; record measurements as necessary on the part traveler.
• Maintain a clean work environment.

Qualifications

• Education and/or
  
  Experience:
  
  High school diploma or GED. Trade school or apprenticeship preferred, or a minimum of 2 years experience as a machine operator.
• Language
  
  Skills:
  
  Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers verbally and in writing.
• Mathematical
  
  Skills:
  
  Ability to calculate machine offsets using addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Understanding of geometry and the ability to calculate angles.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and complex fixturing problems, and to use common sense when using equipment and making decisions.
• PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Regular talking or hearing; frequently standing, walking, and using hands; occasionally sitting; ability to stand for extended periods; occasional lifting up to 50 pounds and up to 70 pounds with assistance; vision requirements including close, distance, color, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
• WORK ENVIRONMENT: Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts; occasional vibration; usually moderate noise level.
