Following the promotion of our current Head of Service, we have an exciting opportunity for an exceptional leader to join our Adult Services team and shape the future of social care in Blackburn with Darwen.

As Head of Service Social Care (Social Work and Integration), you’ll take on a pivotal leadership role, driving transformation, integration, and operational excellence across social care and social work services. This is your chance to strengthen our journey from Good to Outstanding and make a lasting impact on the lives of our residents.

In this role, you’ll inspire and lead teams to deliver these ambitions, ensuring statutory duties under the Care Act, Mental Health Act, and Mental Capacity Act are met, while embedding safeguarding and best practice.

You’ll champion innovation, collaboration, and professional growth driving services that empower those who need them most.

Responsibilities
  • Neighbourhood Health and Social Care Integration
  • Neighbourhood Social Work
  • Safeguarding and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS)
  • Community Mental Health (including AMHP Service)
  • Learning Disability and Transitions
  • Complex Case Management
Qualifications
  • Proven expertise in Adult Social Care and a deep understanding of statutory frameworks
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen to manage large budgets effectively
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to influence and collaborate at all levels
  • A people-focused approach to leadership that inspires excellence
  • Resilience, strategic thinking, and the ability to balance competing priorities under pressure
