Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Overview
We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Shift Maintenance Fitter to join our team to help keep our hospital environment safe, operational and support the health and well-being of our patients, staff and visitors. This role blends planned preventative maintenance with emergency repairs and everything in between. You will work with critical mechanical infrastructure including steam raising plant, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, Medical Gas and building management systems in compliance with statutory requirements and good practice guidelines.

The Bottom Line – What Do you Receive? Salary
The NHS Band for this position is Band 4 which for regular hours works out at £27,485 rising to £30,162 pa (after 3 years). However, as a Shift Maintenance Fitter working for our Trust and with the RRP included, based on our current shift pattern this equates to approx. £33,100 to £36,000 (after 3 years) pa. There may be irregular overtime opportunities;
optional inclusion into one of the best pension packages available.
- Apply a high degree of attention to detail and be precise in recording relevant results to maintain effective and accurate records.
- Work as part of the mechanical team with 11 colleagues carrying out planned preventative maintenance and emergency breakdown repairs to engineering plant and equipment.
- Attend urgent repairs as required; some work can be hazardous.
- Support learning and development opportunities and work within a hospital environment.
- Experience as a Mechanical Shift Maintenance Fitter or equivalent in a hospital or similar environment.
- Good working knowledge of critical mechanical infrastructure including steam raising plant, HVAC systems, Medical Gas and building management systems; able to comply with statutory requirements and good practice guidelines.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
