Overview

The successful candidate will work alongside senior occupational therapists, therapy assistants and other members of the multidisciplinary teams to provide holistic and high quality assessment and treatment to a range of service users. You will provide occupational therapy assessment and intervention to adults and children with a range of complex mental health or/and physical health needs. This post offers a joint rotational scheme with 6 monthly rotations in paediatric, mental health and physical health, acute and community based services, provided by East Lancashire Hospital Trust and Lancashire and South Cumbria Foundation Trust.

The rotations may include community paediatrics, community mental health, inpatient mental health, acute admission, inpatient medical, inpatient orthopaedics, inpatient neurology/stroke, community stroke, community rehabilitation, and community neurology. You will be expected to develop skills and competencies across a range of specialist clinical areas.

Responsibilities
  • Devise individualised care plans which place recovery through occupation at the heart of the interventions provided.
  • Establish and maintain well developed interpersonal skills to build relationships with other staff within wider services where service users are linked in.
  • Communicate with relevant carers/family/friends, negotiating appropriate levels of involvement through agreement with the service while remaining sensitive to the needs of the individual and their carers.
  • Work under regular professional supervision from senior occupational therapists; participate in appraisal-based learning and development opportunities offered through LSCFT and ELHT training offers and best practice forums.
