About the RoleAs a Healthcare Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our trained nursing staff, providing hands‑on care and comfort to patients requiring palliative care. You’ll help create a caring, supportive, and spiritual atmosphere, ensuring every patient and their family receives the highest standard of care.
Main duties of the job- Assist in delivering holistic, individualized care under the supervision of qualified nurses
- Develop specialist skills in all aspects of palliative care
- Support patients and their families physically, psychologically, and spiritually
- Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including healthcare professionals and spiritual care coordinators
- Maintain a safe, clean, and secure environment for all
- Participate in social activities and provide emotional support to patients and families
- Mentor and support new Healthcare Assistants and volunteers
- A compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care
- Willingness to learn and develop specialist skills in palliative care
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
- Flexibility to cover a 24‑hour nursing rota when required

- English language GCSE Grade C or above or Equivalent
- ECDL or other basic IT competency qualification
- Able to communicate well verbally and in writing
- Basic IT skills (e.g., log‑in, use email, check calendars, log out)
- Able to physically carry out duties of this role (see Job Description)
- Able to follow instructions and use own initiative
- Willingness to learn new tasks, procedures or methods
- Pleasant, warm personality with a kind, sympathetic and positive attitude
- Self‑motivated
- Ability to adjust to change with good organisational skills
