Role

An opportunity has arisen to join a busy and forward-thinking team within the Cardiology Department. The role is full time at 37.5 hours, worked over 5 days. If you are an enthusiastic, experienced and motivated person we welcome your application to join a secretarial team embedded within a proud and hardworking Unit. You will be responsible for a Cardiology Consultant and their team.

Amongst your duties will be coordinating diaries, processing admin, completing validations, typing of clinics and management of a waiting list, and ensuring a proactive approach to patient care.

Main duties
  • Co-ordinate diaries and processing admin for the Cardiology Consultant and team
  • Complete validations, typing of clinics and management of a waiting list
  • Ensure a proactive approach to patient care and support efficient service delivery
  • Organise workload with the Consultant Cardiologists and their team to ensure efficient service and best use of theatre utilisation
  • Act as a point of contact for all forms of communication for the Consultant Cardiologists and their team
  • Carry out secretarial duties to contribute to the organisation of work while maintaining confidentiality
Secretarial service and duties

To provide a comprehensive secretarial service to the Cardiology Consultant Team including the Head of Department or visiting consultants (subject to change due to service needs and demands). The post holder will work in accordance with trust policy; manage clinic appointments and operative/procedure waiting lists using Care Cube. Organise the workload with the Consultants and their team to ensure an efficient service and best use of resources.

Working

Act as a point of contact for all forms of communication for the Consultant Cardiologists and their team. Exercise initiative appropriate to the role and maintain confidentiality at all times. The post holder may be required to change working practices over time in line with any review of services.

Locations and organisation context

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is ideally situated about a forty-five minute drive from Manchester. The Trust provides services to the 440,000 residents of Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre and North Lancashire, as well as specialist tertiary care for Cardiac and Haematology patients. The Trust covers the local authority areas of Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre and is part of the Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care System (ICS) serving around 1.6 million people.

DBS

and pre-employment checks

If the role you have applied for requires a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check we will administer this as part of pre-employment checks. You will be required to repay the cost on appointment via salary deduction. Current charges are:
Basic £25.50, Standard £25.50 and Enhanced £53.50. You are encouraged to register for the DBS update service (£16 per year). If you withdraw your application you may be required to reimburse the cost. DBS checks remain free of charge for volunteer positions.
