Mechanical Design Engineer

SALARY: GBP 40,000 - GBP 60,000 (dependent on experience)

My client designs and manufactures equipment for Water industry. They are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Wigan on a permanent basis.

• Using CAD for concept design and producing technical drawings
• Designing for manufacture within the wastewater industry
• Liaising with manufacturing providers and clients
• Creating the required documentation for design as well as project reports/plans
• Updating 3D models and drawings
• Creating BOMs
• Checking drawings for sign-off
• Working in a small multi-disciplinary team on varied projects

• Previous experience in a similar Design/Mechanical Engineering position
• Experience with in the Water and wastewater industry
• Degree/HNC/HND/BTEC/NVQ in Mechanical Engineering or similar
• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
• Experience working with hydraulics and pneumatics would be beneficial
• A background in Water-related industries would also be ideal:
  Specifically wastewater
• 5+ years experience with sheet metal design and manufacture
• Proficient using 3D CAD software;
  Solid Works and AutoCAD
• Knowledge of a variety of materials and manufacturing processes
• Good theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
• Proficient using MS Office
• Excellent organizational skills and time management
• Ability to work well alone as well as part of a small multi-disciplinary team
