HMP Garth is a Category B men’s prison located in Ulnes Walton near Leyland, Lancashire, housing around 800 adult male prisoners, most serving long sentences. It opened in 1988 and has expanded over the years, sitting adjacent to HMP Wymott.

Join Novus as an Art Teacher at HMP Garth on a fixed‑term contract (12 months), part‑time basis, working 18.5 hours per week (Tuesday & Wednesday).

• Hold a teaching qualification and, where applicable, a relevant subject specialist qualification – with a commitment to obtain the outstanding qualification within 12 months.
• Hold a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy.
• Have experience creating stimulating, vibrant environments conducive to learning and motivational for learners.
• Have a previous track record showing achievement of quality targets.
• Have successfully produced accurate and timely reports.
• Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills.
• Be able to motivate and enthuse learners.
• Have organisational skills to prioritise workload to meet deadlines and targets.
• Demonstrate positive team‑working.
