SEN Teaching Assistant

SEN Teaching Assistant Wigan £450 - £525 per week

• Full-time, term-time only (Monday to Friday, 8:30am till 3:30pm)
• Immediate start available
• Long-term role with potential for permanent placement

We are seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join a warm and inclusive primary school in Wigan. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with additional needs across EYFS, KS1 or KS2, helping them to access learning, build confidence and develop key life, social and academic skills within a nurturing environment.

• Supporting pupils with SEND through 1:1 sessions, small groups and in-class support.
• Using strategies recommended in EHCPs or support plans to meet individual needs.
• Assisting with differentiated learning activities, sensory or therapeutic tasks.
• Encouraging emotional regulation, communication and positive behaviour.
• Supporting teachers with planning and adapting resources for SEND learners.
• Ensuring safeguarding, confidentiality and school policies are followed at all times.

• Must-have:
  • Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting children with SEND in a school or care setting.
  • Strong communication, patience, empathy and behaviour-support skills.
  • Understanding of safeguarding, child protection and confidentiality.
• Nice-to-have:
  • Experience working across EYFS, KS1 or KS2.
  • Knowledge of Autism, ADHD, speech/communication needs or social/emotional needs.
  • Training in Team Teach / MAPA / positive handling (or willingness to train).
