JOB SUMMARY:

We are looking for a Biology teacher who is a strong performer in the classroom with a sense of imagination and a commitment to the role, who has a clear ambition and enthusiasm for Biology and will be fully involved in the life of the school. The successful applicant also needs to have a love of Biology in many different forms, a desire to encourage pupils and understanding and motivation to work with pupils and young people.

Essential skills include:

• Excellent communication skills are essential, as is the ability to get on with a wide range of people and to support and encourage artists of all abilities.
• Well-developed organisational and IT skills are expected

• Responsibility for all aspects of curricular and co-curricular Biology in the School
• Teach Biology at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4
• The ability to teach another science and / or pupils in Key stage 2 would be an advantage
• Lead a vibrant and varied programme of co-curricular Biology activities
• Promote Oakhill School Biology outside of the School

• Lead the development and review of the Biology curriculum including planning, assessment for learning, tracking and the development of a challenging and inclusive curriculum for all pupils
• Organise and oversee the nature of the co-curricular offering
• Lead the development of school policy in Biology to ensure an interesting, well-planned approach which is consistent throughout the school
• Promote pupils entering internal as well as external competitions
• Manage the school’s Biology teaching resources and participate in the budget process
