Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (PMLD - Challenging Behaviour)
Location: Blackpool
Hours: Full Time, Monday to Friday, 8:45am to 3:45pm
Contract: Temp-Perm
Job DescriptionWe are seeking a committed and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist classroom setting supporting a small class of 12 pupils, including a child with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and challenging behaviour.
This is a full-time role requiring a confident individual who can provide consistent, structured, and compassionate support within a highly demanding environment. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and wider SEN team to deliver personalised learning, promote engagement, and support pupils' emotional, behavioural, and physical needs.
Key Responsibilities- Provide one to one support for a pupil with PMLD and challenging behaviour.
- Support learning and development within a small SEN class of 12 pupils.
- Assist with personal care and physical support in line with individual care plans.
- Implement behaviour management strategies consistently and positively.
- Support communication using appropriate methods, including visual aids and alternative communication systems.
- Help maintain a calm, safe, and structured learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and external professionals.
- Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and manual handling procedures at all times.
- Previous experience working with PMLD and challenging behaviour is highly desirable.
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach, with the ability to remain composed under pressure.
- Strong understanding of SEN practices and inclusive education.
- Willingness to assist with personal care and physical needs.
- Commitment to full-time attendance, Monday to Friday, 8:45am to 3:45pm.
- Relevant SEN or Teaching Assistant qualifications are desirable but not essential.
