About the Role

Prospero Teaching is seeking an experienced and dedicated SEN Tutor to join our team in Lancashire, starting in January 2026. This role involves providing 1:1 tutoring for students with complex Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Autism, ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs, and those working below expected levels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver GCSE Maths and English lessons on a 1:1 basis, personalised to each student’s learning needs.
  • Adjust lesson content and pace to support emotional regulation and different learning styles.
  • Assist students in developing subject knowledge, study skills, and boosting their exam confidence.
  • Build a trusting and consistent rapport with students to create a safe, supportive learning environment.
  • Regularly monitor student progress and provide clear, constructive feedback to parents, carers, or other professionals involved.
Essential Requirements
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience teaching or tutoring Maths or English.
  • Experience working with SEN students in a 1:1 or small group setting.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Must have, or be willing to undertake, an Enhanced DBS check.
Desirable Qualifications
  • PGCE in Secondary Education and/or Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience working with students with Autism, ADHD, or SEMH needs.
