Position: Consultant Radiologist with Subspecialty Interest in Nuclear Medicine

Overview

Vacancy at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. If you are a motivated nuclear medicine radiologist looking for a challenging, fast-paced, and growing radiology department, Blackpool Teaching Hospitals may be the place for you.

Our team currently comprises 21 general radiologists with subspecialties including breast, upper/lower GI, musculoskeletal, urology, paediatrics and more. We refurbished the Central Radiology department in early 2021 to provide a cutting-edge diagnostic department with 2 nuclear medicine cameras and a future-proofed capital replacement programme. We operate Agfa Enterprise Imaging PACS (upgraded December 2024) across our estate and are investing in artificial intelligence solutions within the department.

The successful candidate will join a multi-professional team based in the Radiology Department at the Victoria Hospital site and will also provide clinical opinions for community hospitals and services in the primary care setting.

Responsibilities
  • Provide all aspects of a Diagnostic Radiology Service at Blackpool Teaching Hospital (BTH), including CT, MR, plain film, ultrasound, and Nuclear Medicine.
  • Occasionally provide diagnostic reports for patients at community hospitals.
  • Contribute to the department’s operational efficiency and minimise interruptions to individual consultants (Radiologist of the Day system, under review).
About the Nuclear Medicine Service
  • Blackpool Teaching Hospitals offers a comprehensive diagnostic nuclear medicine service, including a cardiac service.
  • Extensive experience in reporting diagnostic nuclear medicine studies using SPECT-CT imaging techniques is required.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Appropriate specialist nuclear medicine training with experience in advanced imaging techniques; track record in research desirable.
  • FRCR or equivalent and be on the specialist register or within 6 months of obtaining CCST.
  • Hold, or be eligible to hold, an ARSAC Practitioner license.
  • CV required with application.
