Job Summary
We are looking for a medical receptionist/administrator to join our busy but friendly reception team.
Ideally the successful candidate must have experience of general practice and/or of working in a busy administrative environment.
We require someone who possesses excellent interpersonal skills, confidence, self-motivation and conscientiousness yet is able to work under pressure.
We care very much about our patients therefore we are looking for someone who has a passion to provide high quality patient service at all times.
22.5 hours per week (8‑12.30, 8.30‑1.00, 1.30‑6.00 or 2.00‑6.30pm on a rota basis
Salary: £12.50‑13.37 per hour*
Holidays: 25‑33 days
* plus bank holidays (

We are a GP practice with a list size of just over 7,200. We have a fantastic reception/admin team who work hard, but also have some fun along the way. We are a practice committed to providing a great service for our patients and are looking for a friendly and confident person to compliment our team.
Job responsibilitiesDuties and Responsibilities
Telephone Duties- 1. Making appointments and navigating patients to the most appropriate providers
- 2. Taking requests for prescriptions
- 3. Conveying messages both internal and external
- 4. Assisting with patient/visitor enquiries
- 5. Dealing with Homevisit requests
- 6. Deal with general enquiries
- 7. Contacting other providers
- 8. Register new patients and temporary residents
- 9. Greet and direct patients and visitors
- 10. Care navigation and appointments
- 11. Processing prescriptions requests
- 12. Ensure outstanding queries are explained and handed over to next shift, as necessary
- 13. Respond to tones of doctors and nurses during surgery
- 14. Collect payments from patients for non‑NHS services
- 15. Deal with general enquiries
- 16. General filing and scanning and photocopying
- 17. Dealing with requests for repeat prescriptions
- 18. Raising prescriptions as per Practice protocols
- 19. Dealing with queries relating to repeat prescriptions
- 20. Input and extract information from Practice computer system
- 21. Observe health and safety guidelines and security at all times
- 22. Key holder responsibilities
- 23. Make refreshments for doctors and other team members, participate in washing up
- 24. Maintaining mandatory training/attending necessary training sessions
- 25. Maintain confidentiality of all data and information
- 26. Maintain professionalism of both self and practice at all times
- 27. Any other reasonable duties as necessary

- GCSE Mathematics C or above
- GCSE English C or above
- NVQ II in Customer Care

- Time Management and the ability to work to deadlines
- Interpersonal skills
