Role specifics and benefits

As a Traveling OR RN, you’ll be integral to the patient journey—from preoperative preparation through post-anesthesia recovery. Your responsibilities will include maintaining sterile technique, assisting in scrubs or circulating roles, and providing vigilant intraoperative patient advocacy. You’ll collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical techs, and unit staff to ensure seamless case flow, meticulous instrument counts, and adherence to safety protocols. You’ll contribute to the development of safe, efficient perioperative pathways, support patient education, and help optimize turnover so teams can deliver timely, high-quality care across diverse surgical specialties.

  • Prepare and assist in the operating room, maintaining sterile fields, ensuring correct equipment availability, and supporting patient safety throughout procedures.
  • Monitor and respond to intraoperative events, coordinate with anesthesia and surgical teams, and document critical information with accuracy.
  • Participate in preoperative assessment and postoperative disposition conversations, contributing to comprehensive care plans.
  • Uphold infection control standards, environmental safety, and regulatory compliance; engage in ongoing quality improvement initiatives.
  • Adapt quickly to varying OR layouts, equipment, and case mixes while maintaining consistent, compassionate patient care.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes, share best practices, and support staff development.
