Overview
Maintenance Mechanic 3 (Lead Maintenance Mechanic Fire Alarm Technician). Join our team as a Lead Maintenance Mechanic at Western State Hospital, an adult psychiatric hospital, where you’ll guide others and ensure our facilities operate at their best.
This job is a life safety specialist for an employee who holds a NICET Level 2 Fire Alarm Systems certification. A major part of this job focuses on fire alarm and fire suppression systems. Based out of our Life Safety shop, you'll perform a variety of skilled work in the operation, maintenance, repair, remodeling, and construction of buildings, grounds, machinery, mechanical facilities and equipment, and hospital facilities, systems, and equipment.
Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary. Evening and Night work includes a shift differential in addition to the standard compensation rate. Pierce County employees are eligible to receive an Orca Card for transportation needs.
- Maintenance and repairs in life safety, carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical systems.
- Fire alarm testing and maintenance.
- Fire suppression testing and maintenance (fire sprinklers, stand pipes, fire extinguishers).
- Lead team workflow, guide safety policies and procedures, and assist staff with operational procedures.
- Install and maintain plumbing, electrical, and mechanical fixtures; repair air conditioning, laundry equipment, kitchen equipment, gates, and hydrants.
- Perform preventative maintenance and repair on all types of mechanical equipment.
- Emergency lighting testing.
- Minor appliance repairs.
- Develop solutions to repair and maintenance issues.
- Read and interpret plans, blueprints, and sketches.
We re Looking For Someone With Completion of a recognized apprenticeship in a skilled mechanic trade and one year of experience as a journey-level worker in building and equipment maintenance, construction, or repair work. (Experience in a trade may substitute for an apprenticeship).
And A Nicet Level 2 Fire Alarm Systems certification.
