DSHS CSTC Maintenance Mechanic 3 – Lakewood, WA

The Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), Child Study and Treatment Center (CSTC), is looking for a dynamic Maintenance Mechanic 3 to join our team in Lakewood, WA!

As part of CSTC, you’ll ensure safe, functional, and well-maintained facilities that support our mission to serve Washington communities.

Responsibilities
  • Lead daily work activities of Maintenance Mechanic 2 staff under the direction of the Maintenance Specialist.

  • Coordinate daily workflows and provide guidance on safety policies and proper maintenance procedures.

  • Assist with developing and assigning work methods and service requests to ensure seamless operational flow.

  • Act as the lead in the absence of the Maintenance Specialist, helping maintain consistent shop operations.

  • Submit procurement requests for tools and materials needed to complete assigned jobs.

  • Perform skilled maintenance and repair work, including constructing, remodeling, and repairing buildings, framing walls and roofs, installing drywall, and custom cabinetry.

  • Install and maintain plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems, including pipes, valves, fixtures, air conditioning, and kitchen and laundry equipment.

  • Perform preventative maintenance on mechanical systems and equipment, including adjusting belts, lubricating parts, and inspecting bearings and shafts.

  • Construct and finish concrete and masonry projects, including forms, cribbing, and block or brick work.

  • Install and service specialized systems, such as elevators, laboratory equipment, power plant components, and machine shop tools.

Qualifications
  • Completed a recognized apprenticeship in a skilled mechanic trade.

  • A minimum of one year of experience as a journey-level worker in building and equipment maintenance, construction, or repair work.
