Overview
The Gage Center of Forensic Excellence at Western State Hospital (WSH) is seeking a Chief Quality Officer to join the team in Lakewood, WA. The mission of the Gage Center of Forensic Excellence at Western State Hospital is to promote recovery and well-being in partnership with the people served. The Chief Quality Officer supports this mission by managing and overseeing clinical risk management, data management, safety, quality, compliance and performance improvement throughout the Gage Center of Excellence, and by working with all hospital departments to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the services provided.
In this role, you will hold a key executive leadership position in support of the mission, vision, values and strategic objectives of the Gage Center at Western State Hospital (WSH), Behavioral Health & Habilitation Administration (BHHA), and the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS). Opportunities performed on-site may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.
Pierce County employees are eligible to receive an Orca Card for transportation needs.
What We’re Looking For
- Expertise in principles of LEAN, healthcare performance improvement and project management
- Proficiency working with systematic comprehensive analysis and LEAN tools
- Knowledge of occupational health safety and L&I/DOSH requirements
- Experience leading risk management, data management and safety programs
- Extensive knowledge in QAPI planning, program implementation and compliance
- Enjoy working in a team-oriented, fast-paced, ever-changing environment, creating synergies, and multi-tasking
- Positivity and a passion to improve patient care and hospital processes
- Appreciate presenting to large audiences and to Headquarters leadership
- Knowledge of DSHS policies and related state administrative codes/RCWs
- Ability to effectively use good judgment and professional knowledge in complex situations and manage priorities to meet strict deadlines
- Ability to view the hospital's role in the continuum of care and within the larger scope of healthcare reform
- Demonstrated leadership/management skills and robust supervisory experience
- Ability to translate complicated standards, conditions, and data to functional language applicable to all job classifications
- Experience analyzing state and federal legislation
- Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) certification
Who Should Apply
- Professionals with a bachelor’s or higher in nursing, social science, healthcare administration, business administration, public health or related behavioral health science
- And
- A minimum of six years supervisory and management experience in a healthcare leadership role
- Working knowledge of accreditation standards and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Conditions of Participation
