Position: Med-Surg Nurse (RN) in Lakewood, OH
This opportunity focuses on delivering high-quality nursing care within a Med Surg/Telemetry Stepdown unit that specializes in orthopedic, neurological, and telemetry patients. The role is designed for experienced registered nurses who excel in acute and critical care settings, offering a supportive environment to apply advanced nursing skills in patient assessment, care coordination, and clinical interventions.

Key Qualifications & Experience:
  • Current RN license within an applicable compact state or the state of assignment
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, including acute care hospital setting exposure
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Certification
  • Experience with insulin drip management and telemetry patient care
  • Proficiency with electronic health record systems, preferably EPIC
  • Ability to interpret telemetry strips and manage multi-system organ trauma patients
  • Strong communication skills and ability to provide compassionate patient and family support

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, develop and implement care plans, and evaluate treatment effectiveness
  • Safely administer medications and manage drips such as Cardizem, Heparin, and Insulin on telemetry units
  • Act as a key patient advocate, coordinating care across multiple hospital departments
  • Monitor complex devices including central lines, PICC lines, wound VACs, BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen
  • Maintain patient safety and participate in quality improvements with attention to guidelines and protocols
  • Engage in continual professional development and apply evidence-based nursing practice
Additional Details:
  • 12-hour evening shifts, every other weekend and holiday schedule
  • Unit size: 29 beds with typical RN-to-patient ratios between 1:5-6, depending on acuity
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Contract position with flexible start times; local candidates are not accepted for this opportunity
