Job SummarySCA is looking for an experienced Street Sweeper Operator to join our team. The Driver will be responsible for operating a CDL B with air brake endorsement. The Operator will provide prompt service to customers on scheduled routes perform assigned duties on cleaning State Highways, including new housing developments, local cities & road construction, bridges, and local streets with tire debris, trash, sand, etc.
The Broom Truck will remove debris, including broken pavement, asphalt and concrete millings, mud and construction materials or highway debris build-up due to seasonal/weather changes and highway waste. The operator may also operate a dump/follow truck. This position is responsible for thoroughly and efficiently servicing the clients' needs while complying with Company policies and all applicable laws and providing daily sweeper maintenance.
Monday-Friday Day Shift, must be flexible to cover other shifts as needed
Job Responsibilities- Ensures supplies and material handling equipment are secured before operating the sweeper.
- Performs pre‑and post‑trip inspections of assigned vehicles.
- Performs all maintenance of assigned vehicles.
- Ensures vehicle is operating correctly while on the route and notifies Supervisor of any maintenance needs before correcting them.
- Understands and practice operating best practices.
- Immediately reports any equipment failures, near misses or accidents to Lead or Supervisor within 8 hours.
- Works closely with Supervisor to improve route efficiencies and identify any on‑road issues.
- Performs all duties that are assigned.
- Provides a positive professional customer attitude when dealing with customers, including internal customers, i.e., coworkers.
- Completes daily maintenance logs and work order logs.
- Valid Class B Driver's License or higher.
- DOT Medical card.
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Requires focus adjustment, depth perception, and clear close & distant vision.
- Requires regular use of hands to finger, handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.
- Work experience in the waste, environmental services, energy, or transportation industry.
- Ability to work nights and weekends.
- Standing, walking, seeing, and driving continuously.
- Problem‑solving, oral/written communication, concentration.
- Eye/hand coordination, equipment handling.
- Active physical work involving occasionally; lifting 50+ lbs., carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, reaching; walking, standing, side‑to‑side movements, and driving and operating equipment for extended periods.
