Position: Youth Services Specialist I - Rocky Mountain Youth Services Center

Job Overview

Direct Care / Essential Officer for Division of Youth Services State Operated Secure Facilities. Proactive youth supervision, safety, and program implementation in a secure setting.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct care, safety, security, and supervision of adjudicated and pre‑adjudicated youth.
  • Implement youth center programming, behavioral management plans, and crisis intervention.
  • Document observations, maintain logs, and record unit activities.
  • Use restraints, de‑escalation, and conduct searches as required.
  • Support organizational accountability and adhere to CDHS Code of Conduct.
  • Complete required training and maintain ongoing professional development.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Willingness to be physically present on site during shift hours and able to physically intervene with assaultive youth.
  • At least 21 years of age; no felony convictions or history of domestic violence.
  • Valid, unrestricted U.S. Driver’s License.
  • Ability to work shift hours including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays; overtime may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • College education in behavioral health, juvenile justice, or related field.
  • Experience working with adjudicated or detained youth in a secure residential facility or behavioral health setting.
  • Experience facilitating psycho educational groups and working with trauma‑affected youth.
  • Proficiency in verbal de‑escalation and motivational techniques.
  • Relevant years of state service experience.
Additional Information

Employees will be required to complete the DYS Pre‑Service Training Academy, Field Training Program (FTO) and mandatory annual training in all subject areas.
