Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Building Maintenance
Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design is seeking an HVAC Technician to join our team on our beautiful, historic campus in Lakewood, CO. This individual will support campus maintenance by performing various tasks, including wiring, preventative and electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and basic electrical repairs and installations. Occasional nights and weekends are required, and the technician may need to take 24-hour calls.
Candidates must live within commuting distance and have reliable transportation.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform minor maintenance and repair to designated equipment; perform routine and preventive maintenance on building equipment
- Monitor boiler chemicals and settings
- Perform basic electrical repairs/installation
- Perform general maintenance
- Operate and clean manual and power maintenance equipment; perform minor equipment repair
- Willingness to learn and perform tasks related to Structured Technology cabling, CAT6 cable, Fiber Optics, Cabling Terminations, installation of Security Cameras, Door Access, Sound Systems, and Streaming Systems.
- Perform trash and snow removal
- Light construction and other building needs as requested
- Perform scheduled maintenance
- Be on call for after hours as needed
- Cover on call for the Director of Facilities when needed

- Perform other duties as deemed necessary by management
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Experience with boilers
- Four years of experience in electrical work required
- Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking)
- Knowledge and application of the National Electrical Code (NEC); awareness of updates
- Current State of Colorado Journeyman Electrical license required
- Must be able to:
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components
- Install conduit and outlets
- Repair or replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures using hand or power tools
- Test electrical systems and circuits for safety and compatibility
- Use various tools and testing devices
- Plan electrical layouts based on specifications and codes
- Inspect systems for hazards, defects, and compliance
- Diagnose malfunctions using test equipment and hand tools
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
While performing this job, employees are exposed to fumes, chemicals, moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather, high places, extreme heat, humidity, risk of electrical shock, and loud noise. Must be able to move objects up to 100 pounds, bend, stretch, climb ladders, and crawl in confined spaces. Occasional nights and weekends, with 24-hour call availability, are required.
