Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

Greet, engage, and assist customers actively and visibly.

Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently.

Understand the Point of Sale (POS) system and handle various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, and coupons according to company policy.

Adhere to the company's cash handling limits and work to control loss.

Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).

Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.

Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.

Stay updated on current, upcoming, seasonal, and special ads.

Comply with food safety regulations and guidelines.

Reinforce safety programs, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management.

Inspect equipment regularly and report repairs needed.

Create a welcoming environment and assist customers with product inquiries.

Follow all relevant laws and company policies.

Work effectively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.

Manage conflicts professionally and cooperatively.

Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.

Follow directions and seek help when needed.

Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.

Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Qualifications:

Customer service experience
Effective communication skills
Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction)

Desired Previous Job Experience:

Customer service experience
Experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk
