Hospital Veterinarian

The Hospital Veterinarian is a central role at our Vetco Total Care Full Service Veterinary Hospitals. You will deliver high‑quality patient care, lead teams, and support professional development across dentistry, nutrition and more.

• Provide excellent patient care by performing physical examinations, diagnosing and treating diseases, and providing preventive care.
• Utilize a problem‑based approach that includes a complete problem list, differential diagnoses, diagnostic plan and appropriate treatments.
• Document all patient observations, exam findings, diagnostics, treatments and client interactions in a concise manner.
• Perform routine and complex surgical procedures, including spays/neuters, abdominal exploratory and mass removals.
• Perform routine and complex dental procedures, including full dental examination, evaluation of dental radiographs, extractions and oral surgical procedures.
• Develop treatment plans for patients undergoing day hospitalization; transition patients to overnight care and communicate effectively with referral hospitals.

• Participate in rounds as incoming or exiting doctor at the beginning and end of shifts.
• Disseminate knowledge throughout staff to improve the level of care and communication provided to hospital partners, patients and clients.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an AVMA‑accredited veterinary school.
• Active licensure as a veterinarian in the state of the hospital with no contingencies, or ability to obtain by start date.
• Current DEA license.
• Current Controlled Substance License, if applicable, in the state of the hospital or ability to obtain by start date.
• USDA Category I accreditation (minimum) or completion within two months of hire date.
• Comfortable performing anesthesia and routine surgeries, including canine and feline spays, neuters, mass removals, and dental procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate, professional demeanor during emotional and stressful situations.
• Telephone and computer literacy.
• Team player willing to learn new techniques, offer creative ideas and accept change.

Tasks are primarily conducted in the Vetco Total Care full‑service hospital. The job requires bending, kneeling, lifting (up to 30 pounds), standing for long periods, and frequent client interaction.
