Job Summary and Responsibilities

Qualified external applicants with at least six months of direct RN experience are eligible for a $20,000 sign-on bonus!

  • The schedule for this position is two 12‑hour shifts per week and rotating weekends (7 pm‑7 am).
  • We offer night shift differential of $5.75 from 11 pm to 7 am!
SAH 5th Floor Med/Surg

The 5th Floor Medical Surgical department hony Hospital, an achieved Magnet® hospital, is a 36‑bed medical surgical unit specializing in neuro, trauma, and ortho. Our department is the main service line for our patients that need the care that a Level 1 Trauma Center provides. Patients are from all age groups (usually 16 years and above) with occasional overflow of general med/surg patients.

We have a strong culture of teamwork where we pride ourselves on delivering high quality, safe patient care. Our team is a committed, caring group of colleagues who have a passion for creating positive patient interactions. Our medical surgical unit lends itself to developing great relationships with our coworkers and we work together to provide excellent patient care.

A good candidate for the 5th floor would be someone who prides themselves in being a team player, has a positive attitude, open communication skills, hard‑working, dedicated, and accountable. We are a great starting point for someone interested in a future in Critical Care.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with both the healthcare team and the patient/family to identify and meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient.
  • Promote the optimal health, well‑being and safety of the patient through use of the nursing process and in accordance with patient care standards, guidelines and the State Nurse Practice Act.
  • Demonstrate personal accountability for relationship‑based care, organizational mission, and core values.
Job Requirements

In addition to bringing human kindness to the workplace each day, qualified nursing candidates will need the following:

Education Requirements
  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing required;
    Nursing Diploma or by endorsement
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required for new graduates, preferred for experienced RNs
Experience Requirements
  • One year experience preferred
  • Nursing skills and knowledge base specific to specialty
Licenses / Certification Requirements
  • RN License required;
    Current state nursing licenses or valid RN license from a participating state in the National Licensure Compact
Physical Requirements
  • Medium Work – (Exert up to 50 lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs constantly)

With four trauma rooms including the T‑10 room, a dedicated field‑to‑surgery suite ready 24/7 for trauma surgeons and specially trained teams, our staff can provide life‑saving care to the most severely ill and injured patients.
