Overview
Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Experienced Subsurface Modeler to join our environmental sciences and engineering practice. This role can be based in one of our offices located in Santa Barbara, CA;
Ventura, CA;
Costa Mesa, CA;
Lakewood, CO; or Greenwood Village, CO
. In this position, you will contribute to challenging projects involving site characterization, contaminated site assessment and remediation, groundwater management and water supply issues, as well as contaminant fate and transport. You will also continue building the business skills necessary for a successful consulting career.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Analyze and interpret various types of geologic data, such as boring logs, geophysical wireline logs, and geophysical surveys.
- Build geologic, hydrogeologic, and contaminant plume models using 3D geostatistical modeling software (primarily Leapfrog and Earth Volumetric Studio – EVS).
- Develop groundwater flow and contaminant fate and transport models using MODFLOW series tools.
- Conduct statistical analyses of environmental data using a variety of software.
- Write and implement Python scripts to automate and customize workflows for a variety of tasks.
- Manage and analyze geologic, hydrogeologic, and contaminant data.
- Generate, use, and interpret reliable computational models and impactful visualizations to help communicate complex issues to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Compile data and develop technical reports, correspondence, plans, and specifications.
- Assist with proposal preparation and business development activities.
- Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in geology, earth science, environmental engineering, or other environmental related majors. (required)
- Advanced degree in geology, hydrogeology, earth science, environmental engineering, or other environmental related majors (M.S. or Ph.D.). (preferred)
- Professional Geologist (PG) or Professional Engineer (PE) certification, if applicable. (preferred)
- At least 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
- Proven ability to use 3D geostatistical modeling software (Leapfrog and EVS) and ability to learn new software platforms. (required)
- Experience with groundwater modeling software (e.g., MODFLOW, MODPATH, MT3
DMS) and graphical user interfaces such as GMS and Groundwater Vistas. (required) - Experience with quantitative statistical methods and data visualization. (required)
- Proficiency in scientific programming languages , such as Python. (required)
- Proven ability to effectively use geospatial software applications (such as ArcGIS, Surfer, etc.). (preferred)
- Strong data management and organization skills, and experience manipulating large datasets. (preferred)
- Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec’s total compensation package for employees.
Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.
- Minimum: $84,710 /year / Maximum: $126,430 /year ( Santa Barbara, Ventura, or Costa Mesa, CA )
- Minimum: $80,860 /year / Maximum: $120,685 /year ( Greenwood Village or Lakewood, CO )
