Job Description
This position is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented construction observation professional who wishes to be part of our expanding team. We are seeking candidates who thrive in a collaborative, field-focused environment and are eager to play a pivotal role in delivering complex civil and infrastructure projects throughout the Rocky Mountain Region. The ideal candidate will be responsible for observing and inspecting small and large construction sites for various projects, which may include water/wastewater, stormwater, structural and related infrastructure improvements.
This person will coordinate directly with a Project Manager, Construction Manager, or Project Engineer to ensure compliance with design and regulatory standards in order to support successful project delivery for our clients and communities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and manage construction observation activities for water/wastewater infrastructure, utilities, stormwater systems, structures, and/or roadways.
- Conduct regular field observations to monitor quality, progress, safety, environmental compliance, and adherence to standards, drawings, and contract requirements.
- Serve as an on‑site liaison between engineering/design teams, contractors, clients, regulatory agencies, and third‑party inspectors.
- Assist with construction documentation. This includes preparing daily reports and photo logs; review of RFIs, submittals, and change orders; and other related items.
- Review contractor pay applications, evaluate field changes, and support negotiation and documentation of change orders.
- Identify field issues proactively—anticipate constructability concerns, coordinate with design engineers, and assist with implementing corrective actions.
- Support project closeout activities including substantial completion walk‑throughs, punchlist management, final completion walk‑throughs, as‑built verification and turnover of deliverables to clients.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Education and/or Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; or equivalent construction observation experience.
- 0–6 years of experience observing/inspecting construction of civil/infrastructure projects such as utilities, stormwater, water/wastewater, structures, site development, or related items.
- Ability to read, interpret, and enforce engineering plans, specifications, technical drawings, and construction documents.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, safety standards (OSHA), environmental permitting, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with contractors, internal teams, and external clients.
- Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented professional with strong organizational skills and a proactive approach to problem solving in the field.
- A desire to grow personally and professionally while contributing to high‑quality infrastructure improvements across the region.
- Familiarity with industry related software such as Bluebeam, AutoCAD and Civil3D.
Licenses/Registrations:
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites.
- Professional certifications are a plus, including Engineering Intern (EI), OSHA training, PMP, CCM, or Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
Base salary range for this position is: $70,000/yr - $95,000/yr dependent on individual education, qualifications, experience, and other factors.
