About the Job

The Maternal Newborn Nursing Affiliate Faculty teach nursing students in the specialty of mental health nursing. The role involves coordinating and collaborating with lead course faculty to teach, supervise, and evaluate students in simulation and practice settings, emphasizing clinical judgment, critical thinking, and clinical reasoning. The Affiliate may serve as a Teaching Assistant in classroom settings. Faculty are hired on a course-by-course basis as needed.

  • Candidate Requirements:

  • An active, unencumbered RN license in Colorado.
  • At least two years of instructional experience.
  • MSN degree in nursing from an accredited Nursing Education Program.
  • Strong pharmacology and treatment knowledge, with the ability to interpret patient information to assist student decision-making.
  • Ability to engage students in clinical situations, lead clinical conferences, and demonstrate strong communication skills, as evidenced by teaching evaluations.
  • Proficiency in APA 7th edition and academic writing.
  • Key Job Duties

  • Teach, supervise, and evaluate nursing students during clinical and simulation experiences.
  • Attend course orientations, grade, and submit student performance documents timely.
  • Teach simulation and clinical components during eight-week blocks in the BSN program.
  • Assess student achievement of course outcomes related to nursing practice.
  • Assist with classroom management and grading of assignments.
  • Integrate biblical principles into student experiences and support spiritual formation.
  • Provide feedback on course delivery, clinical competencies, and student learning modalities.
  • Maintain nursing competence in the specialty area.
  • Work Environment

    Employees may be required to walk, stand, sit, reach, balance, stoop, speak clearly, and have adequate vision and hearing. Occasionally, lifting/moving up to 25 pounds may be necessary. Irregular hours, including nights and weekends, may be required.

    Affiliate faculty pay ranges from $400-$600 per credit hour for undergraduate courses and $1,000 per credit hour for graduate courses. Payment details for low-enrolled courses are included in course contracts.
