Description Of Job Auto Industry DivisionThe Auto Industry Division is responsible for regulating the Motor Vehicle and Powersports Industry with balanced emphasis on Education, Compliance, and Enforcement of applicable laws and regulations.
Responsibilities- Regulate and ensure fairness, educating and protecting consumers.
- Treat applicants and licensees fairly, professionally, courteously, and efficiently.
- Foster an honest and healthy industry within the State of Colorado and ensure consumer confidence.
The unit ensures licensees comply with Title 44, Article 20, parts 1 & 4 of the Colorado Revised Statutes and related rules of the Colorado Motor Vehicle Dealer Board, in addition to federal laws and regulations. It forms effective licensing procedures, conducts background investigations, and handles enforcement investigations.
Job DutiesLocated in Lakewood within the Specialized Business Group – Auto Industry Division.
- Accepting, reviewing, and processing license applications for various licensing categories and permit applications.
- Processing application fees, accurate data entry, and preparing daily deposits.
- Fingerprinting applicants and reviewing criminal records.
- Mail duties, tracking office supplies, and customer service.
- Follow up on application deficiencies and make licensing decisions.
- Provide recommendations of suitability for license applicants.
- Train new staff in application processing.
- Process changes of ownership, premises, trade name, location, etc.
- Mail newly issued licenses and create duplicate licenses as needed.
- Disseminate information and respond to licensing inquiries via phone, email, and written correspondence.
- Check voicemail, return calls, and refer complaints.
- Serve as first point of contact for local clerks, licensees, and the public.
- Perform front‑counter functions: check‑in, receipt of funds, answer multi‑line phones, queries, track correspondence, refer to website.
- Electronically fingerprint applicants.
- Electronically fingerprint prospective and current Division employees.
- Ensure fingerprints meet CBI/FBI classification standards.
- Receive and reconcile payment from applicants.
- Reconcile cash, check, credit card and money order receipts with computerized system and prepare daily deposits.
Position is open only to residents of the State of Colorado at the time of application.
Minimum QualificationsThree (3) years of general clerical experience in an administrative or office support role demonstrating high level decision making and multitasking.
General clerical duties include accurate, timely processing of documents, scheduling, reception, record keeping, document creation, and compliance with financial procedures.
Combination of relevant education and/or related experience equaling three (3) years.
Special Qualifications- Ability to successfully pass a background investigation.
- Willingness and ability to occasionally lift up to 20 lbs.
- Knowledge and experience processing license applications and renewals in a regulatory environment.
- Experience with Mylo Licensing system and Gen Tax system.
- Strong understanding of Colorado Motor Vehicle and Powersports Codes and Rules.
- Exceptional interpersonal/customer service skills.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Strong multitasking ability and attention to detail.
